Food & Beverage Service Staff
Position Overview
The Food & Beverage Service Staff (Waiter/Waitress) is responsible for delivering high-quality, professional service in a restaurant, café, club, hotel, or banqueting environment. This role supports the smooth service of food and beverages, ensures guest satisfaction, and maintains high standards of hygiene and hospitality service compliance as per UAE / GCC industry expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Service & Interaction
- Greet and welcome guests with warmth, professionalism, and courtesy.
- Present menus, explain daily specials, and assist guests with menu selections.
- Take accurate food and beverage orders and transmit these to the kitchen/bar correctly.
- Ensure the timely, accurate, and professional delivery of food and beverages to guests.
- Anticipate guest needs and address queries and concerns promptly and courteously.
Dining Setup & Operations
- Prepare and maintain service areas (mise-en-place) before, during, and after service.
- Ensure tables are clean, properly set, and maintained throughout service.
- Assist in setup and breakdown of dining areas and banquet functions in line with standards.
- Collaborate with kitchen and bar staff for smooth service flow.
Compliance & Hygiene
- Follow all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards at all times.
- Maintain the cleanliness of dining spaces, service stations, and equipment.
- Ensure adherence to company SOPs, health & safety policies, and UAE hospitality standards.
Cash Handling & POS Operations
- Process customer bills using POS systems accurately.
- Handle cash and electronic payments professionally and reconcile at shift end.
Teamwork & Professional Conduct
- Work effectively with other service and kitchen colleagues to deliver excellent guest experiences.
- Report any service deviations, equipment issues, guest complaints, or safety concerns to management.
- Maintain professional grooming, dress code, and punctuality in line with UAE /GCC hospitality standards.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent. Vocational training in hospitality/F&B is a plus.
Experience
- Prior experience as a waiter/waitress or food service role is preferred (hotel or restaurant experience advantageous).
Skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with good command of English (other languages are an advantage).
- Customer-focused with excellent service attitude.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
- Competence with POS systems and basic cash handling.
